About

Ten years ago, Don and Ruth Willey came to Arizona from Michigan, to escape the winter weather. They soon became confirmed "snowbirds," with their family, horses and dogs, and built a house in Oracle, north of Tucson. While traveling the state, they discovered Fort Bowie, and fell in love with the area. It afforded unlimited riding in some of the west's most historic areas. Tucson's growth was creeping up on Oracle, plus they really wanted to build a horse camp for snowbirds, that offered all the things they'd want when they started wintering in their LQ. In 2022 they bought 40 acres there, and began to build Fort Bowie Horse Camp.
According to Ruth, "There are many people who don't have an LQ or RV, who'd still like to camp with their horses. That's why we're constructing the Fort Bowie Bunkhouse. With five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and community room, everyone will be able to enjoy the ranch. It will also be perfect for other gatherings, such as family reunions, club rides, lots more.”
The Willey's Fort Bowie Horse Camp is your home away from home. You're always welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee and take a tour.
